I'd love to have this discussion with you elsewhere on SOD. You bring some valid points but you are still confused. There are layman's terms and there are medical terms and the two are often confused (i.e. many people often use the terms cardiac arrest, heart attack and sudden cardiac death inappropriately thinking they mean the same thing but they each have very specific definitions in the medical world and they are not interchangeable, despite being associated with each other often). I'll initiate another topic for this, I think it is very important for all to know about.

This thread is for the bridge and I believe we both think it should be opened up again, albeit for different reasons.

GO MANNY!

Agreed, lets keep SCD/SCA and other emergency statistics and information out of the bridge debate.

See you all at the polls!

I don't agree with your numbers but I'll concede for the sake of arguing and state that I'd be willing to pay $12 for that one person.

The polls just closed, about 9 or so minutes ago.

I'm sure some of your phones will be ringing as soon as Manny finds out what the results are. If you don't know by now...Manny will be staying until he hears the results. (As if that's a big surprise)

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped Manny with Article 28. The letters, donations for the mailout, the donations for signs, Rob & Deirdre (sorry if I misspelled your name) for all your time & help in making the remainder of the signs. This all meant a great deal to Manny...and myself.
So, thank you...it's people like you who make us grateful we live in such a great neighborhood & community.

Gold star to Kerry for getting my name right! I know it's tricky. ;) Appreciate the effort, indeed!

We're waiting on pins & needles for the results! It was a lot of fun standing out there meeting people I previously knew by name only. Our Rottie, Carl, enjoyed taking part too. :)

Rob and I were very happy to help Manny - he was working so tenaciously for the benefit of the entire Town. We don't have voting privileges, but at least we could contribute in other ways.

I drove the length of Long Pond road today to see the culverts in question. I think I felt 5 (small car) that needed work. The road is in tough shape, but similar to many secondary roads in rural NH. The day before I drove Sandown Road. Same condition, except there is a road block, at least with Long Pond Road you could go end to end. If the culvert is not approved for Long Pond Road we could could have two more dead end roads in town, Long Pond North and Long Pond South.

Dead End Danville! Has a ring.

I just got off the phone with Manny.

Sadly, the bridge failed.

Yes - 466
No - 480

These numbers are after votes were re-counted 3 times.

Long Pond also failed, although I don't have the numbers on that article.

BUT...the budget passed. Again, I don't have the numbers, but I'm sure Manny does.

I'm tired...and will go pass out in my bed now. I'll let Manny post w/numbers that he got, unless the BOS posts first.

Darn it! I really thought it might have passed this time around. It was a really close vote though. I wish I could think of something clever to say but I can't. Maybe Safety Frog was right about the dead end town.

Less than 1,000 people voted on the issue. Apathy is the problem.

Can't sleep...

Pathetic is the only word that comes to my mind right now. WAIT! I have another one...DISGUSTED.

It's sad to say...but the only thing that makes me feel a little better is the fact that Long Pond Road was defeated too, and not just Sandown Road.

Danville should be embarrassed that it can't maintain it's infrastructure, because the townspeople won't vote to fix anything.

Unfortunately... Dead-End Danville sounds like it's becoming a reality. :(

I'm lost for words, at least ones that I can use in public. So sorry, Manny!

I am very disappointed in the town. It does look like the infrastructure of Danville is not important. We will slowly lose our backroads. I think most people will agree that people vote for personal reasons, with that in mind any road/culvert that needs repair in Danville will eventually become a dead end if it does not personally affect them. SAD!!!!

Instead of moving forward in our town it seems we are going backwards and cutting ourselves off from other towns or at least making it more difficult to reach them.

Manny, thanks for all that you did. A lot of people helped in this endeavor, but you went above and beyond. I just want you to know your hard work did not go unnoticed.

Thanks!!!!!!!

Thank you, but it was all that helped out in a variety of ways, wheteher by donating money (which totaled $400.00), spreading the word by mouth, holding signs, making signs(special thanks to Rob and D), putting signs together (thanks Ray), polling, letters to editor and lastly, voting. I know there were people that were in favor of this article, but did not vote. It lost by 14 votes, that is all. Long Pond Road is in danger this year. If it floods over, that culvert will worsen and I heard last night to not be surprised if that road ends up being closed this year, which would make 2 through roads become non passable. That is pretty sad. Hampstead Road is not far behind either. See where we're going in Danville with our roads, pretty soon 111-A will be the only was in and out of town........Sad, but true. If that road closes this year and then both roads come up again next year on the ballot, will Lance and Charles fight to keep that one closed too? For some reason, I doubt it, but that is something we can ponder over the course of next year. Long Pond Road lost by 63 votes, Sandown Road was closer at 14 votes. The gap closed dramatically from last years 182 vote defeat, but still, we did not get it..........more to follow.

Really? Would you pay $12 for ANY person to reduce their risk of death by any number of similarly factors or just for the bridge?
